Volunteer Roles

Ovarian Cancer Canada cultivates the legacy and mandate of our founding partners to support all Canadians affected by ovarian cancer and to increase awareness of the disease among the general public and health care professionals.

Our volunteer roles fall into four categories:

  1. Programs
  2. Communications
  3. Administration
  4. Fundraising

Programs

knowledge is power Presenter

Knowledge is Power is an enormously successful education and awareness program that was created by Ovarian Cancer Canada to educate the general public.

This free, 60-minute program is delivered by volunteers at the community level - at community centres, in the workplace, places of worship, etc. Its purpose is to raise awareness about the signs, symptoms, risks and preventative factors of ovarian cancer.

As a presenter, a training session will be arranged that will provide you with the materials and information necessary to deliver presentations to various groups.

knowledge is power Coordinator

As Coordinator, you will contact local organizations, businesses and groups within your community to arrange speaking engagements for Knowledge is Power presenters. You may also assist with event co-ordination, materials preparation, distribution and advertising.

Information Table Volunteer

As an information volunteer, you will staff booths and/or information tables in a variety of venues to distribute information, raise awareness, and answer questions about Ovarian Cancer Canada’s programs.

Knowledge for health professionals

Ovarian cancer survivors and/or members of their family raise awareness about ovarian cancer in the classrooms of future healthcare professionals by sharing their stories about being diagnosed with the disease. Training will be provided to all presenters.
